Roman Romaniuk
CEO
Upon graduating from the University of Toronto, Roman pursued his interest in molecular biology by working in Switzerland as a senior laboratory technician at the Basel Institute for Immunology which was funded by the Hoffmann La Roche pharmaceutical company. During his tenure there, he specialized in DNA manipulation techniques with special emphasis on gene cloning. During Roman’s tenure there, he had the privilege of working on projects that were spearheaded by such notable Nobel Prize winners as Dr. Susumu Tonegawa, who unraveled the mystery of gene rearrangements in the mouse immune system and Dr. George Koehler, the co-discoverer of hybridoma-driven production of monoclonal antibodies.
Later, Roman moved to Canada and began working on the commercial side of molecular biology as a representative of companies offering chemical reagents and instruments used in molecular biology labs. During his years of interest in the field of DNA technology, he created a genetic code chart that made it easier for students and researchers alike to retrieve the flow of information from DNA, to messenger RNA and finally to the amino acid that is coded for. His reformatted version of the genetic code chart received written accolades from both Dr. James D. Watson and Dr. Francis H. Crick. Roman has also written a book entitled “Roman’s Notes on DNA” which is a primer for students studying the basics of DNA and the GeneticCode.
