Message: Copper, nickel up on global cues

Copper and nickel prices rose up to Rs 5 per kg on the local non-ferrous metal market today on fresh buying by stockists influenced by a firm trend in global markets.

Analysts said beside a firm trend in global markets, fresh demand from consuming industries pushed up copper and nickel prices.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery rose by 1.4 per cent to $8,355.75 and nickel by 1.2 per cent to $22,830 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were recovered by Rs 2 each, to Rs 441, Rs 465 and Rs 426, respectively, while nickel (4x4) gained Rs 5 to Rs 1,000-1,002 per kg.
