to simplfy matters... you stick a cable down the two holes... then a cable on the ground in a wide circle around the holes... maybe even onto NOT ground.

pass an electrical current through and voila - you get the 3rd dimension on the magnetic readings that were picked up from the air and on the ground prior to going downhole.

those reading supposedly show where exactly the strongest magnetic showing and at what angle to drill..

yes they are drilling again based on data from down hole work.
