Hello Mitchy.
I like your choice of the word "hobby" to describe the mentality that everyone here, thousands of times, shouts down.
That was my first reaction. It fits the bill.
But, on second thought, the word "hobby" does not go far enough. Think about your fondest hobby for a moment.
Even anybody's most casual passing interest drives greater interest and more time spent than Management's
time spent standing up for Shareholder values.
Golf requires hours spent improving your swing. We should be so lucky.
Flowers require hours in the garden. We should be so lucky.
Music lovers spend hours at concerts (if not spending their vacation there). We should be so lucky.
Ice Skaters spend hours (if not half their lives) improving their moves. We should be so lucky.
Chess players (such as myself) spend days on end studying opening variations. We should be so lucky.
Each time you go to the movies requires more of your attention and more physical movement
than anything that stimulates Management to get up and pause for a moment to think about
the Shareholder consequences of inaction on their behalf.
