Member Inquiries, Feedback and Testimonials
Dear gamblor77
Thanks for the great feedback. We strive to bring our members a great format and we are pleased that our user base now has expanded to over 1.1 million unique visitors for the second year in a row.
Being so, we are looking into ways of improving our system, so we may keep up with the latest technological trends, in addition to attracting new investors from more broad demographics.
1. RSS feeds for favourite hubs
RSS Feeds have become a predominant and easy way to send alerts to your audience. In fact, RSS feeds are available to all our Client and Marketing Community Hub's. At this point in time however, our shareholder communities do not have RSS Feed capacity encoded in them. With over 2000 + Investor Controlled HUB's, setting up an XML page for each one will become an overwhelming task. We hope to be in a position to offer Feeds to Investor Controlled HUB's at some point in the future.
2. Mobile/lighter version of Agoracom for blackberry or other mobile devices -- even a text based version would be better than nothing but and html version would be very nice
We have already researched this exciting technology and we have plans to release a 3G/mobile version of our site imminently. Please susbcribe to the AGORACOM blog for further updates and information.
3. Counters for the number of unique views on posts
The AGORACOM model does not rely on pageviews, hits or flipping ads in order to generate income. In other words, we don't monetize in any way from our dear visitors. Hence a post counter would be a redundant application for our sites purposes.
4. Basic reporting for the number of users in a hub and their rank etc.
This is a great suggestion however one which would be very hard to materialize. It would involve changing our sites coding, allowing members to "opt in" to a forum. Nonetheless, we will keep this suggestion in mind for future updates, and discuss it with our developers whether such an update is feasible.
5. Option for email alerts when someone replies to your post
Given the shear volume of pages created every day, such an option would bring our sites speed to it's knees.
6. Ability to move posts to the off-topic area with an indicator (either with an email to the user or placeholder where the post was that says "moved to off-topic" - just for hub leaders to see)
At this point in time, AGORACOM administrators are the only ones with the authority to move "threads" from the main discussion forum to the off topic forum. However, what is important to note, that even admin's can only label entire "threads" as off topic, and not individual ".messages".
This raises quite a few issues; for example let's assume a very topical thread has one off topic response. Admin's can either move the entire thread off topic, ignore the off topic response, or simply delete the off topic response informing the poster that their post was deleted for said reason.
Most of the time, we take the middle approach, as for the greater part, people just want to be part of the greater group. Being so, we are aware that a little bit of leeway in larger groups can get out of hand. So sometimes we take the third approach.
Nonetheless, we cannot offer the move "off topic" ability with our sites present coding. The only way we could do it, is if we remove the "threaded view" option and present all posts in list view.
7. Ranking system for posts rather than basic thumbs-up recommendations (possibly a 5-10 star rating or at least have the option for a thumbs down with a count as well)
We are already researching a behavioral rating system, that will realign how members within the community can rate each other and are ranked.
We appreciate your feedback and your thoughtful suggestions, and we sincerely hope we will be in a position to make some of these applications a reality in the future. We've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to build AGORACOM for the small cap investor and offer it as a FREE service.
For a web based operation that does not charge investors, nor is dependent on page views or flipping advertisements to earn income, the fact that 142,000 Investors visited our site in the last 30 days speaks volumes about our brands popularity.
Thanks again for your message and your honest thoughts.
Kind Regards,
AGORACOM
