no kidding. shifting the thought from clutter to disruption, it's a fine line to walk without being painted as the second coming of Adolf, especially when on troll duty.

hard lesson to remember sometimes (for me at least), is that most fires will burn themselves out if they don't get fuel. i.e., leave whatever-controversial-thing alone, and it'll die on its own after enjoying its 15 minutes of fame.

as to improved system, once the thread-organization ability to shuffle stuff around to OT area is there (soon, I hope!), I think a "timeout period" option would really be beneficial, instead of just having to go nuclear with a ban as the only choice.

add in perhaps a two-key system (or three), e.g., any one HL proposes a ban, any other one (or two) HL can concur with the launch, and boom! away they go to banned land.
