Message: TSX merges with London Exchange

This was an interesting comment on the cnn money web site.

Do you think it will lead to higher valuations??

I also don't mind drawing more attention than the US, it may give us more stability in years to come as the US continues to bog down in QE funny money.

reasons not to like it
Quatar and Dubai own 35% of the LSE, they may be the biggest shareholders in the combined company.
Canadian companies will be more vulnerable to foreign takeovers.
the head of the company might never be someone who represents Toronto.

reasons to like it
increase in investment flow across continents
result in higher valuations of Canadian companies
biggest mining, resource exchange and might never lose that position.
if there's a literal merger of the tsx and lse the combined exchange would be the second biggest in the world 47% more market cap than the Nasdaq and the US for the first time wouldn't be home to the 2 biggest exchanges.
