Yes, whether public or private, these message systems work best when they operate as close to a normal conversation as possible.

Being able to reference what was just said, or a short while later, has been a great benefit to me. So both an Inbox and an Outbox, or a combined box containing mail in both directions and in time sequential order would be a great benefit to me.
