it is more difficult for a US resident to open up an account in switzerand than a european but not impossible.  I thought this was useful...(link below).as although its a service being offered, they do indicate which nationalities may use which services. I use an on line bank/broker called www.swissquote.ch  not sure what the restrictions are now, but you can see what they offer from the net.
