On the other hand, there could be a silver lining ( pun intended ) or two in those redemptions. The first is that the funds must have known just how much cash they needed to raise to payout the redemptions, so the selling should be just about over. The second is, where will those redemptions go? Into cash for a while maybe, but if the funds have already purchased all the dollars they need, then the rise in the greenback should reverse very soon. Not an attractive environment for holding dollars, especially if you're not American. So where will all that cash go? Some should find its way into precious metals and miners :-) . And as has been pointed out, these are not large markets. A small percentage of those redemptions will go a long way.
