This morning I watched Barrick Gold's CEO Munk on CNBC and, surprisingly, he said the opposite. He explained that worldwide gold resources are more or less known (due to new technological devices/geological advances locating where the gold potentially is) and getting scarcer and scarcer. As an example he said: why do you think one of our future mines being developed right now finds itself at 4.800 meters ? (he was obviously referring to the notorious Pascua-Lama property on the border of Chile and Argentina).
It seems the Cartel is disintegrating and not any longer playing the same tune.
