The Republicans should stop perpetrating the lie that in Canada some government bureaucrat tells what doctor you can see and/or makes your medical decisions for you. But if you belong to a HMO some lowly corporate bureaucrat will be telling which doctor you should go to and making all you medical decisions if they're not too busy denying your claims. AIG health insurance unit had a policy of automatically denying claims resulting in people fighting them while sometimes battling a life threatening illness like cancer. http://www.getclaimhelp.com/public-adjuster/10-worst-insurance-companies-deny-claims-raise-premiums.html#aig
What about all those horror stories about U.S. hospitals dumping patients on the street when their insurance runs out or become a burden.
Even with our wait times, if you're one of the 46 million Americans without health insurance or 30 million who are under insured, you can even get on the wait list to begin with. Speaking of under insured, the NYT recently had a funny story if it wasn't true of a man with who was going in for heart surgery and thought he had a $150,000 policy with Aetna, only the find out that the policy covered the hospital stay and not any procedures performed there. The uninsured cost of his surgery subsequently forced him to file for bankruptcy when his bills hit $200,000. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/01/business/01meddebt.html
The U.S. has the best healthcare system if you're rich or have a bullet proof policy with a high enough cap that won't be blown throguh from at the first catastrophic illness, everyone else, good luck.
