Aug 13 (Reuters) - Prolonged protests have disrupted output
at two of the world's top silver mines in Bolivia, a major
producer of zinc, silver and lead.
San Cristobal silver, zinc and lead mine, which is
controlled by Japan's Sumitomo Corp (8053.T), has been forced
to partially halt production, while San Bartolome
silver-operation, owned by U.S.-based Coeur D'Alene (CDE.N) has
been shut due to the unrest. [ID:nN13147146]
Following are some of the biggest mines and mining groups
in the Andean country, all of which have operations in the
southern Potosi region where the protests are taking place:
 NAME OWNER SILVER LEAD ZINC
 San Cristobal Sumitomo 618 73,700 293,900
 Manquiri Coeur D'Alene 261
 Sinchi Wayra Glencore 105 3,600 64,100
Pan American Pan American Silver 55
 * 2009 output in tonnes; Manquiri controls San Bartolome
and also buys ore from other mines.
