Golden Minerals is a junior silver producer with a strong growth profile, listed on both the NYSE Amex and TSX.
Don't forget that for every share naked shorted, there is someone who bought the share long and believes he is an owner. So we have potentially several times the legal float of shareholders who would be tendering their stock for private stock. Check on the stories about Overstock.com and naked shorting for more info on this. I think what would be a good idea maybe is to have the company tender something to the stockholders requiring a proxy, and finding out how many shares respond. I realize not everyone would respond, but there is some statistical calculation that could be done to determine the shares in folks hands. This would give some indication of the problem. I have hesitated in purchasing more ECU because of this naked short problem and I bet there are many investors who see the fundamental value here that are sitting on the sidelines until things fall one way or the other.
