Tesla can have all the patents they want for different recipes for silicon batteries, as could any auto manufacturer. They would still need the silicon nano wires/powders. So far HPQ is just working on a means to mass produce the silicon that so many companies and sectors will want to purchase from HPQ whether it's for auto to solar to whatever ever else would need a supply of cheap silicon.
