Message: cliffs road versus rail???

Do you actually believe that the govt(s) will allow/assist CLF building a private road thru FN territories to mine BT and transport ore to market? That will blow up in their faces along with the road, bridges, minesite and the future of the ROF.

Yes, you actually don't? Right now CLF is in discussions with multiple agencies with federal, provincial and municipal governments, apart from a wide range of stakeholders. Some of those discussions are focused on infrastructure. The EA/EAA process obligates CLF to have these discussions and some parts of the process require them to publish their "terms of reference", spelling out their intentions.

Government rarely achieves anything in parliament or public sessions, it's business is almost always done behind closed doors. The CEAA's acceptance of a Comprehensive Study Environmental Assessment (EA) process, instead of a full Joint Review Panel (EA) for Cliffs project and streamlining the approval process for major resource projects to 12 months were internal decisions. Two years ago, CLF announced that Black Thor was going to go into operation in 2015. I wonder how Cliff's knew they could have an operating strategic mineral mine within that unheard of timeframe?

The ministers responded to ‘Bear Pit’ questions posed by municipal delegates regarding the apparent lack of progress on the Ring of Fire in Northern Ontario with assurances that discussions are ongoing on a multi-ministerial level in consultation with mining companies and area First Nations. However, details of these discussions remain confidential, according to the ministers.

Aboriginal Affairs Minister Wynne said she is working directly with other ministries to resolve issues, address concerns and reach agreements to move the project forward to meet the interests of all involved.

“Negotiations are ongoing that aren’t public and can’t be talked about,” she said.

Ontario has a problem. They have lost hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs in the last 5 years. The Canadian dollar remains strong and more jobs will be lost. Ontario's publicly held debt is $242B, with projected annual deficits for 2012, 2013, 2014 of $16.0B, $15.2B, and $13.3B, and it's debt rating has just been downgraded. It's motivated to make a deal that will add thousands of jobs.

CLF wants to invest $3.3B to get it's chromite to market, employ directly and indirectly thousands of people in Ontario and start making the $1.5B GR/YR for potential mine with a 45 yr mine life. It will pay for a major portion of the $600M public/private road and maintain it. It will determine the most economical way to appease the FN most directly involved.

The Public Lands Act provides that the Minister may grant easements in or over public lands for any purpose.

You actually think that the Ontario government is going to help KWG stop CLF?
