Very good digging.
The post says:
"A North South all-seasons road (in purple) will not be built (underlined mine). The East West service road would allow for better logistical construction of the ONTC James Bay Port Authority railway from the north and south end simultaneously, reducing construction time and expense. Once the North South railroad is completed, Noront can switch delivery of nickel concentrate in order to increase volume and minimize transportation costs of ~$6.33/t."
I presume that the purple line is for the NS all-season (and private road) proposed by CLF. Meaning, this does not exclude the option to build a small service road along the RR. This could be built later during the construction of the RR. This service road would be useful to connect the FN communities (e.g. Marten) to southern Ontario. Since this transporation corridor will incorporate transmission of power (including transmission lines, wind turbines, solar panels), telecom, etc...the NS service road would be crutial for small trucks to service the areas (including maintenance of the RR).
Question: Trucking using the 82km segment of the EW road instead of slurry pipeline to transport Ni concentrates to market initially?
Overall, the plan to start with the EW roads look quite reasonable. Hope that the Prov Government would push this plan along...a very good platform in preparation for a Spring election (jobs for opportunity for the people of Ontario)?
