It would appear that Grand Chief Martin is a doer rather than a talker. It would be an excellent opportunity for the FN to take a lead in the development of the north.

It should be noted that Grand Chief Martin is a former Mayor of Cochrane the starting point of ONTC Polar Bear Express train to Moosonee. Timmins is just around the corner and companies in the area can certain use the cheap power from Quebec (some 3.3 cents/kWh for large power users). A electric arc smelter would require ~300MW, but if gas is abundant in the area then the requirement for electricity would be less, since it would be cheaper to "cook the chromite with gas" to turn it into value-added product which could fetch a lot more money. BTW, they can also produce electricity in a co-generation gas facility. The "waste heat" from this cooking method could be recycled for space heating for the facilities. It's cold up there in the winter!
