Message: Books About Gold Taking Off Again

The last few weeks, I have seen an increase in the number of books sold in the area of precious metals, the gold standard, and inflation. Many buyers in Europe. They are scared. Just sold "The Monetary Sin of the West", the old classic by Jacques Rueff. Can barely keep "Silver Bulls" or the Economics of a Pure Gold Standard on the shelf. Totally sold out of Jim Sinclair's classic "The Strategic Metals War" which I had underpriced. This is a book about Rare Earths, circa 1984 or so.

Usually when I sell more of the expensive books about gold, it precedes significant moves. It's an indicator of where money is moving, what's on people's minds. Not predicting anything for certain, but it is a data point that could be used with others to confirm what's happening.

Also, a heavy-hitter in the area of Monetary Economics is writing a book about Bretton Woods, and recently bought "The Morgenthau Diaries: The Years of War" by Blum. Morgenthau was FDR's Treasury Secretary, and his memoirs are important reading. The most important of these are "The Years of Crisis", for this is the first part of the trilogy we are in. The Years of Urgency and Years of War are still to come.

Always lurking but not always posting,

CD
