Oravada, Nevada is the closest town to Thacker Pass and the elevation of Oravada, Nevada is 4,344 feet.  Thacker Pass is about 600 feet higher at 4,938 feet.  It gets COLD in Nevada up at these elevations on some days in October and even more so during November, December, January and February.  

I believe the temps at Oravada, Nevada are somewhat predictive for those at Thacker Pass, only the temps at Oravada will most likely be slightly warmer than those Will and Max will experience up at Thacker Pass.  Take a look at all of the temps later this month projected just for Oravada, Nevada that have predicted LOWS in the 20's:

Take another look at the predicted LOW temp for Monday, 11 October:                 20 Degrees F.
