Trying to post once more on your post, Cal.

I think the article you posted just cries out, once more, for LAC to get on with the split into North and South American separate entities.

LAC might have to give some incentive to Ganfeng to give up its interest/share in the presently constituted single entity of LAC, probably by increasing it's percent stake in what would become the South American entity of what would then be the former LAC.  A horse trade, in effect.

Senator Tom Cotton and his fellow Tall Cotton followers should then have the necessary mitigation required in their anti-Sino chest beating rhetoric in order to ameliorate their position on what would become a Sino free North American separate entity offspring from the original LAC parent and we could get along with doing what Thacker Pass was intended to do and what should be the destiny for Thacker Pass and for the United States.... problem solved.

JMO   Hope this one gets posted!

Onward through the FOG and past the censorship?

Comment:  Politics, normally verboten on Agoracom, can't be ignored on this issue as it pertains to the future of Lithium Americas.
