I don't buy that theory, Stan.  JMO and nothing more, but LAC post split here in North America has a great deal to lose if that DOE Loan falls through.  Why would LAC go through all of the legal mubo jumbo and whatever the NYSE throws at them in requirements to fullfill to make the "change" unless they could somehow shed the appearance of sleeping with the enemy, so to speak, regarding the odious association with PRC and the CCP (by inference, if not in reality).

Just doesn't make sense or cents.  I respect anyone to have the opoosite opinion, but first you will have to tell me how the U.S. government position has changed in regards to a negative posture with respect to dealing with North American companies, U.S. or Canadian, that have a seat at the dinner table with Chairman Xi or give the slightest appearance that Chinese influence in that North American company could be anything more than the remotest of possibilities.

The international climate is not conducive at present to a positive future for the North American spin off of the present LAC to interdigitate by reality or by supposition to SOE of China, or as in this cse, to Non SOE of China such as Gangeng Lithium, Ltd.

Things change and I accept that things change.  Perhaps tomorrow morning President Xi and President Biden will be exchanging fortune cookies after a hearty Chinese meal and both the  GOP and the Democratic Party will be making plans to vacation on the beach in Hainan Province and dancing on top of the Great Wall before flying over Taiwan coming back to the U.S.

Best to you, but I don't believe that Lithium Americas will be changing their name anytime soon to Ganfeng of the Americas.  More likely, in my opinion, would be President Putin to decide to move all of his troops out of Ukraine in September and give Saint Petersburg to President Zelinsky in the bargain while both of them have Borscht and drink Vodka together in celebration of the deal. 

Not holding my breath on that one.
