HC: "The point is that with solid state batteries this segment becomes even cheaper and therefore it can be used well when there is excess capacity on Lithium or battery production in general. The lifetime of solid state is also much longer. Actually think that Tesla has started to look at this segment, battery storage."
HC brought up a truly great subject, solid state batteries. I know that currently there are other topics that are garnering more focus as related to LAC. The "Split", the production via LAAC, the potentially changing political situation in Argentina, the much anticipated "DOE Loan" for LAC, and GM's relatonship to LAC just to name a few important focused topics. Not to mention attention on the projected 2026 current target for production to start at Thacker Pass and, if not that projected main event then how about the ebb and flow anticipations for the near and far term lithium market price on the world stage, eh?
Lots of things to keep an eye on, to worry about and to follow with anxious anticipation.
But I digress. HC brought attention to the subject of SSB, Solid State Batteries, more specifically LITHIUM SSB.
I don't pretend to remember or to stay current on this important subject so I have to go back and review some articles to try and make sense of just where we are in the field of Lithium SSB and where it is going near term and far term. Why? Well, it speaks to the essence of Lithium Demand, near term and especially far term.
SSBs are in the market place now, but hold the phone Bucko, the ones available currenty are pretty small and used to power things like mobile phones and medical devices. Change is part of life and, of course, when related to the field of SSB we are in the midst of "change" to bigger and better things.
I am not going to try to regurgitate what little I remember and what little I comprehend from my search into the subject. I would just mess that regurgitation up big time. Better that I just provide some links, below, to articles that cover this important subject in a clearer and more detailed way. Suffice it as a comment that Lithiuim SSB will be an important part of EV applications in the future and that there are quite a number of companies working on securing that commercial future as soon as possible. As to the advantages of Lithium SSB over Lithium Ion BEV applications I will just let the articles, linked below, speak to those advantages.
The Future of Lithium-Ion and Solid-State Batteries - ASME
Safer and Powerful Solid-State Batteries for Electric Vehicles - ASME
But what about real time? Where are the companies currently making and/or developing SSB technology for use in BEVs?

Thanks, HC.
Food for thought as we add this area to our "Watch List" of things that will be Makers or Breakers of companies in the mining supply side of Lithium in the economy.
