For the $ Al has invested, I think he is only acting prudently to maintain his ownership control through debt conversion. I don't like it, but then I don't have a billion invested. We are in a situation that Al had not planned or anticipated. The failed partner negotiations and FDA debacle, has forced Al into plan B (or maybe D by now). Thank God Al is not Carl Icahn or Rupert Murdoch or any # of the billionaire boys club that would have forced MNKD into BK and taken this thing private as primary creditor.
I do agree w/ you that if mnkd made false statements to prop up share price, this is inexusable regardless of the explanation and even if it may have benefited me as a long shareholder.
