Babaoriley, I have been saying the same thing about the supply of doctors for years. It is good to see someone else finally with the same observation. In this country, getting into medical school is very difficult, not to mention expensive.

It doesn't matter how much money you spend on the system, there is a limited amount of healthcare available. Giving everyone insurance does not increase the amount of healthcare that the people of this nation receive because we are not increasing the supply. All we are doing is redistributing healthcare. Instead of increasing spending on healthcare, use the money to create more medical schools and produce more doctors. This will put downward pressure on the price of healthcare.I don’t believe that this will produce inferior doctors, since there will be less people going into medicine because of the high salaries that it offers and because the difference in the aptitude between the medical school applicants that just missed getting accepted and those that were accepted is not measurable.
