If you read my response to that "answer" by patent lawyer, it was "that would do for now"...

Technically he "answered" my question in that "defefendants" could be interpreted as those "named" in the current law suit, excluding everyone of else of the 485 companies that were served with the "Infringment Portfolios" by TPL...

One could conjecture: 

He may be a junior lawyer with a big Patent law firm representing, (or planning to represent), a comapny that did not respond to NOTICE of infringemnet served on them by TPL, and is assigned to moniter this board to keep a finger on the pulse of how the current litigation is going, and to do whatever else is necessary...Lol...Lol... 

But, I was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt for NOW...
