Yeah, I was pretty lucky to have a father that had such a great career. I hope people don't mind my bragging on him. Being a talented engineer,. he could fix anything, which used to really piss off Mom once the neighbors figured it out! Always helping someone ELSE! LOL
The real surprise was when I got into musclecars, and something would break or I needed a unique tool. Into the shop, fire up the lathe, and it was made - perfect. Funny thing was I got into Z28s and GTOs, and he'd still help out even though he was a dedicated Ford man. Wish he had lived (another friggin' year) to help me with my Ford Pantera, 'cept he probably would have kept it!
I had some pretty major highlights in my career, but nothing to compare....
C-130s - great planes! Now that must have been some trick snagging those puppies in descent! One of my old Lockheed buddies was on Logistics support for the "Puff the Magic Dragon" C-130 squadron in FLA, and my Bro-in-law was a loadmaster in VietNam. More stories!
You still living in Landscatter/Palmdale? I went to Quartz Hill High for a couple of years. I loved it - dirt bikes and fast cars! I just sold some land in Palmdale last year (now watch, they'll finally put in that airport!).
Fun chatting!
