Samsung Electronics 2Q Profit DeclinesThursday July 12, 11:51 pm ET By Kelly Olsen, AP Business Writer Samsung Electronics 2Q Profit Down 5 Percent as Prices for Computer Memory Chips Fall SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday that second-quarter net profit fell 5 percent on price declines for its mainstay computer memory chips.
Samsung, the world's largest computer memory chip manufacturer, earned 1.42 trillion won ($1.55 billion) in the three months ended June 30, the company said in a statement. Samsung posted net profit of about 1.5 trillion won in the same period a year earlier.
