A Brief History of MAXIM Systems
MAXIM Systems, Inc. was formed April 19, 1998 with the buyout of a business unit from Sierra Cybernetics, Inc. The new organization was created as a C-Corporation, headquartered in San Diego, CA and from the very beginning, has been employee-owned. Operations began with a handful of employees and five defense contracts; four with the US Navy, and one with the US Army.
In 1999, MAXIM Systems began work on the company's two largest contracts to date. The first, Program Management Team Omnibus (PMTO), provides engineering and support services to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (C4ISR) platforms. The second is the Joint Cross Domain eXchange (JCDX), formerly known as the Ocean Surveillance Information System (OSIS) Evolutionary Development (OED) program. This contract involves hardware, software, and network life cycle engineering services for the SPAWAR Systems Center, San Diego (SSC SD) supporting the Navy's advanced, multilevel secure intelligence and target tracking environment.
Today, MAXIM Systems has received more than $200 million in contract awards. The company has grown to be one of the most respected systems engineering and program management organizations. MAXIM's continued stability and growth is built on providing our customers with the best people and quality services at the best value. MAXIM is certified ISO-9001:2000, utilizes Instruction System Design (ISD) standards for all training projects, and is progressing towards achievement of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) level 3 accreditation.
