Email your brokerage and request updated 1099's that recharacterize PTSC dividends to return of capital. Then file within 3 years an amended 2006 return for refund of taxes paid. I did all this three weeks ago with Ameritrade and have already received my VA state refund and am waiting on the IRS refund.

Your brokerage has already been instructed to revise 1099's by PTSC. You only need to spur you broker into mailing you your updated 1099. You may also find a news release on this subject searching Hawk or PTSC websites.
