Well, a company is a private entity versus the public court system-- see for example:
http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/So, I cannot accept a challenge to compare apples-and-oranges in this case. .
A more reasonable analogy would be say... for some proposed legislation and you'd like to hear how your elected representative was going to decide and you want others to weigh in and lobby or get inside info. Your suggesting contacting that person or their staff is inappropriate?
Nevermind that I consider it ineffective and the caller is not likely to get an answer. I'm agreeing with folks that it is not very fruitful, but it happens all the time and public entities deal with it. That is part of their job.
