Look at the wording of the press releases (below) from PTSC. The wording is the same on the Alliance and TPL press releases. Now look at the excerpt further down, a note from Turley. He makes it clear that they will limit comments to the wording of the joint press releases. Unless I am blind, I do not see the words licensed seven patents anywhere in their press releases. One could argue that granting rights under the MMP is the same as signing a license agreement for seven patents. I am not qualified to do so. One could also argue that business resolution means settlement which equals huge sums of money. One could also argue that business resolution means a contingent settlement. One could also argue that business resolution means joint venture, tiered payments, etc. etc. etc. It has been stated that as of Jan 2006 over 30 companies have signed license agreements. Without the Js and ignoring Intel/AMD, I count 29. I believe Casio was left off the list provided by Deb. Again one could speculate that the Js are what put us over the 30 count. Or, perhaps some other companies have signed but for some reason there has been no press yet. What we do know is there will be no trial next week, and there is a settlement, however, the details are confidential. We also know that the re-exams are not a done deal yet, however, all the experts believe the end results will be in our favor. We know that Jim Turley is actively looking at companies for possible M&A. We know that the SEC filings will reveal information that legally cannot be put in a PR. Patience, patience and more patience. I can’t help but believe that 2008 will be Patriot’s best year ever!
