Material Event

I don't know, why people have such a problem with this non-issue. Given the fact, that licensing business is NORMAL business since 2006, why did PTSC even have to file an 8k?

I see two reasons:

1. The numbers were significant higher than previous license fees - but cannot be disclosed due to the NDA, which was signed by a JUDGE

2. The litigation itself was an important event and thus the end of the litigation as well

To point 2.: If you read all the press releases and interviews with PTSC there is no hint, that litigation in Texas would have much influence on the long-term success for Patriot. What most of us (including me) felt like a serious lack in communications, might have been a different view of this event by the company: just three companies, who refuse to pay the money, TPL/PTSC is demanding - but nothing more.

Interesting is, that only Toshiba and Matsushita were mentioned in the 8k ("...Toshiba Corporation, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic) and Victor Company of Japan, Limited (JVC) ..."), but NOT NEC. Could this be a proof, that the NEC settlement was normal business (no 8k filing necessary), but the J2 settlement was MORE than normal business?

Anyway you look at it: PTSC reported the settlement as a material event and I don't care, if it was because of big numbers or "only" the end litigation - both is great for Patriot.
