i disagree ----- why?

NITE has been the main MM on the BID ( they are collecting the shares that investors sell--- being the supply of shares) anytime a MM is on the BID that is a good sign.

Just because there was a buy on the ask--- doesnt mean the stock will uptick. It all depends on the amount of shares available to buy at that price.

If NITE sits on the bid and the ask--- that means that the balance of shares is about equal--- matched orders or demand.

Investor A willing to sell 1000 shares at BID eg. 0.14 ( NITE takes it)

Investors B willing to buy 1000 shares at ASK eg 0.145 ( Nite sells it)

NITE takes 0 zero risk on a position of the stock and makes his money based on the .005 spread.

Once the balance is tipped.. the MMS must react. Assume that now Investor C wants 1000 shares but there are no sellers at 0.14 ( Bid)..... NITE needs to fill the order... so they uptick the BID .145 and the ASK now at .15

By upticking... you there may be a seller willing to sell his 1000 shares at .145 and Now NITE can fill the .15 order for Investor C

So long as the MM is on the BID/ASK..... thats a good sign. Sure... he can move around the bid/ask to create some liquidity or market..... but other MMs also need to compete in order to make money.... they need shares to fill so they will get on the BID and force the ASK to uptick or maintain a decent spread from the BID.

*** What you have to worry about..... --- when MMS are ONLY on the ASK... meaning they are taking a short position.... either they have shares to sell and not interested in matching those orders by being on the bid. Other MMs lower the ask... in order to push down the bid/ask to a price they want to try and fill........ but if there is demand for a stock--- other MMs will sit or push up the BID and the MM trying to short will end up losing $$$ since they have to match the order.

Watching L2 is almost like seeing the supply and demand. Bids stacked - high demand...(buyers) ask stacked- high supply / (sellers)

There could be a line of sellers waiting to get orders... and only a few buyers.... even though the L2 will show buying orders going through........there is still more sellers waiting to get their order filled.

When MMs see this line of sellers..... they can drop the ask and bid -------- more buyers may now come in - (lower price) and some sellers might pull out their order ( not willing to sell at loss or lower price)..... demand and supply then stablize the SP.
