Why do you think it is MMs? What to do they have to gain? The job of market makers is to create liquidity. Why would they bother manipulating an OTC sub $0.50 stock that trades under 5M on an average day, under 20M on a heavy day? They can create a market just using the spread. They don't have to "scare investors" to create liquidity. They have enough tools at their disposal. If this were a large big board stock that trades hundreds of millions of dollar volume a day, I could see MMs working it for a large client. Not PTSC. They could manipulate it down to $0.20 and then up to $0.50 and not make as much all day as they do in minutes just clearing shares on something like C or SIRI.
OTOH, you have daytraders and swing traders. They have made their money, they are not large institutions, and they want to take their profits. They are small enough that a few tens of thousands of PTSC and a $0.18 gain is enough for the week. They aren't manipulating it down, they are just selling their shares to cash out over the weekend. This is what they do. Hell, any longs would be wise to be flipping around a core right now. If anyone knows how this one moves it should be the longs. You make money from your experience (who didn't see this pullback coming?) but have enough locked in case it takes off.
