In keeping with the typical "fire for cause, but turn around and pay them a huge severance package anyway" MO that we've seen this company espouse time and again, I'd say the better solution is to give each of them 1M shares, tax free, and send them on their way. It rewards them when and if the company does make it down the road, and at the same time eliminates the largest obstacle to acheiving any lasting success.
