Nothing with the "Ranger" designation is awarded lightly in Texas, even upon retirement. I had the great fortune to have Texas Ranger Trenton Horton as a family friend and got to know him and the Ranger ethic well. To hear Trenton tell the tale "We only back up as far as the air at our backs"; The historicaly valid phrase is "One riot, one Ranger". (Quite a story there for you history buffs).

I would support a good trained BS detector, such as Pete, for the board. Let Pete and Caplan tag team and reinforce each other. If not enough "talent" left on the board then those tasks can be outsourced to 3rd parties at arms length.
