My thought which is always both dangerous and suspect, is that Acer, et al have put in the reexam request with PTO to stall court proceedings. A quick response from PTO would cause them to change their position to be more accomodative and hopefully significant dollars for licenses. With a win by TPL/PTSC this may open the floodgates.

An aside, it is interesting although possibly not significant that Paul Allen is going after major abusers of his patents which will be fought with the biggest names in the industry. If he gains thrust it can be nothing but good for the MMP.
