--"You get dollar amounts for MMP license signings each time a quarterly report is filed. So I don't agree that it can't be discussed. It more appears you don't want to discuss it."--" quite a large leap in your conclusion. we do not receive a breakdown on the licenses paid, we recieve a lump sum. we have to guess as to who paid what, and how much. they are disclosed in a quarterly but are not disclosed when the license is signed. but that was not my point and i think you know that. i never said we cannot discuss dollar amounts. if you would like to engage a discussion on this i up for it. i have always felt that not disclosing dollar amounts on a license works against us not for us in negotiating future licenses. this is just my opinion. i may be wrong, but i dont see where the non disclousure has actually increased the license fees. it would appear that the TPL non disclousre has enabled TPL to co-mingle licenses and expenses. i would rather see a pr (much the same way as Rambus or ARM) on an actual dollar amount. Makes for a nice PR, catches the attention of potential investors and could be used in the weakly veiled threat of TPL regarding first mover discounts. just my opinion, fut....never said that it cant be discussed.
--"So would I , but it's not likely to happen. Do you agree or disagree with that? " I disagree. i think that change is possible but if you dont thats your choice. so should i assume that since you dont believe it can happen that it cant be discussed?
--"Sorry, but that doesn't make sense. Being underwater on an investment doesn't make you hold it." I am sorry if it does not make sense to you. It does to me. If you think there are other motives than there is not much i can say. i told you why and you prefer to draw your own conclusions to my decisions on why I hold and if my explanation does not meet your criteria than I have a motive???? We can go any where you want with the discussion. but you are not really discussing this with me. you are applying your logic to mine and taking large leaps in your conclusions.
--"most investment literature that youve read" So what. Whats your point? you dont like why i stay invested because you read it in a book. okay. do those same books discuss managements role in the fate of a company?
--"So that makes it OK for you. I was under the impression from your posts on the subject that drum banging should stop. Did I get the wrong impression?" Nope. Never said it should stop. You can bang any drum to any beat you want.
--"More drum banging. I was talking about the future and what it could bring. If you think it will bring nothing if the BOD remians in place then I think you would be a fool to stay invested in this stock since it doesn't look like the BOD will change any time soon." I guess you can call me a fool if you want. if you want to discuss the future that is fine. but the past is what we can use to judge what the future may hold. to disregard this is being foolish. if you do not believe that the BOD will change than that is your choice. i choose to believe that changes can be made.
--"What do you think the potential of future licensing revenue is?" I dont know. neither does the market. Might be why we dont trade upward when a license is signed. no dollar amounts are given. our only guide is lamberts charts. the company has proclaimed increasing rates but that appears not to be true. but then again we will probably end up discussing the BOD's past performance on our first $300 million and what they did with this cash. do you believe that when an investor examines where the PTSC revenues went that this will instill confidence in the investor? i dont. i think it scares the investor. there are reasons why we are trading at a dime and it is not all the PTO. We have won all battles with the PTO. It is, IMO, the decisions the BOD have made. license revenues have not equated in a higher stock price since the J3. I am not sure future revenues from MMP will translate into a higher stock price. I pray that it does and i hope the market (investor) also believes this. we will have to wait for our next quarterly to try and determine the dollar amounts.
--"What do you think should be done with that revenue - dole it out to the shareholders in the form of dividends, invest it in other businesses, invest it in other technologies, other thoughts?" I thought i was pretty clear that i would hope the BOD does not invest our revenues. i would like dividends.
your post to me was not one that encourages a discussion. you ignored my responses to you and applied your own reasons and twisted logic. you already knew my opinion on all of the questions you asked me. thank you for your advice and opinions on what i should do with my investment.
it might be time to either change the bulb or at least tighten it up a bit.
