I take exception to the comment contained: "They did not do a good job."

Perhaps whoever said that is not familiar with PTSC history. In 1998, I believe, a little R&D company named Genroco developed the fastest performing computer (server?) in the world. Per Genroco, the key to their success was their use of the ShBoom acquired directly from PTSC. IMO, that hardly equates to "They did not do a good job."

IMO, the problem was not the product, it was in the marketing of that product in a world where PTSC was the little tiny guy up against the huge guys/massive competition. Also, not only was the ShBoom efficient in C/C++, but was also discovered to be capable of running JAVA at "native speeds". Somebody published an article about that....through a Sun-sponsored JAVA-oriented emag.

FWIW,

SGE
