Apple was brought into the case only recently and I believe it was to respond to the Marcoux summons yesterday. It would seem that discovery may have led to needing information from Apple. RIM was previously mentioned in the Marcoux case. There too I think Marcoux was looking for records.

IMO, good possibility Apple is the company PTSC is major Silicon Valley electronics and cell phone company Moore mentioned in his complaint stating that the MMP only received 5% of the license fee.
