I know that GE was in litigation with Mitsubishi (untill recently I think)---Apple in litigation with HTC, etc. Anyone think that could be a valid reason to hold back PRs?

yes i do, valid reverse engineering data and information to fingerprint proof infringement not leaving any doubt at a potential trial (htc, acer, seagate, barco, texas instruments etc.)
