B. The Proper Construction of “Separate Direct Memory Access Central Processing Unit” (’890 Patent).

T3:a separate CPU that fetches and executes instructions for performing direct memory access without using the main CPU

TPL:electrical circuit for reading and writing to memory that is separate from a main CPU

Ware: a central processing unit that accesses memory and that fetches and executes instructions directly, separately, and independently of the main central processing unit.

=================================================

Why would TPL put "Central Processing Unit" in the title yet use "electrical circuit" in the text? TPL's claim is broader if one agrees that CPU is a subset of "electrical circuit". Why would TPL not have used "electrical circuitry"?

Judge Ware appears to have sided with T3 by tightening the claim to "CPU".

This now begs a second ruling on whether a "DMA controller" or a (singular?) separate circuit to control DMA may be equated to a CPU. My decision would be "No" since a CPU by definition executes instructions whereas a DMA controller primarily moves memory content on directions from an external source (e.g. CPU, disk controller etc).
