While HTC is a major phone maker, they're still not in the top 5 and barely holding onto a top 10 spot from what I've seen in various stories and filings.
Per the attached, they barely have 1% of the handset market. A $5M license, IMO would be pretty good from them. A publication of the amount and a strong statement from HTC supporting the MMP would be a MAJOR plus IMO. If DL can engineer that, I may be in a more fogiving mood going forward, lol.
Based on the attached story, all but Apple ($960K License fee officially, but likely $5M+ unofficially) and Nokia ($20M license fee), the HTC award, considering it was for so few phones, doesn't seem as bad to me as others see it. However, I say that contingent on them signing an MMP license for ALL of their phones, and hopefully for a $5M or mor price, though realistically, I expect maybe an extra $1M or so. We'll see.
That being said, Samsung, LG, ZTE, Huawei, TCL, and Lenovo are still in the crosshairs so to speak, and if you multiply any HTC license fee by the others' market share, we're looking at some substantial licensing fee potentials. Just gotta get there!
