I was one of the biggest proponents of patent extension... thought it was a no brainer.. especially since the majority of the patents' lives have seemingly been held hostage in litigation... There is the 6 yr 'look back' period to continue to collect for infringement after expiration.. but that is convuluted legalese that I am not 100% sure how works..
