no one cheered louder or longer than I. That decision was both telling and a strategic turning point in the campaign.
As a Veteran who supports Obama I’m still cheering on this memorial day.
And on this day I'm asking myself again the same old 2 questions; was I right to go, and who were the patriots? Was it those who waved the flag and fought and bombed in that immoral Vietnam war, or those who burned the flag in opposition? Does being loyal to ones country sometimes require one to be disloyal to morality?
Regardless of the answer, there is no question in my mind that individual acts of bravery clearly took place in Vietnam. Ironically, brave warriors do fight immoral wars. Even the Germans had brave solders - by most anyone’s definition. Brave yes, but they would have been moral humanitarians had they opposed the immoral war - that would have been called unpatriotic.
