The healthcare industry is exempt from US antitrust laws. Congress could reform healthcare by making it competitve and removing the antitrust provisions, but they won't. The next best thing is to create a medicare like system for everyone. A relatively efficient system that operates at about 1/3 the overhead of these government sponsored (Soviet-ish) monopolies. An added bonus would be for Medicare and this entity to use their large size to negociate cheaper prices for consumers (capitalism), something the GOP opposes.
