Never follow the advece given in Brokerage firm investir seminars. You cannot even count on doing the opposite of what they tell you. If you listen to BNN, do so as comical entertainment only. Especially to what there stock picking guests say. Some of them even act farcical as if to be perfectly clear that they do not even believe what they are saying. Late night infomercials are more honest.

As for NOT expect lots of volatility every day and over several days at a stretch. Between apparent leaks and supposedly credible rumors circulating the volatility will spike from time to time. More so as anticipation of new news releases approach.

Never invest in stocks with money you cannot afford to loose. Never place stop loss orders (even more so for stocks under great speculation/volatility) as that only tells you you are very insecure as to the stack you just bought. Once you know what you are doing do it. If you are not sure or prone to second guessing your self (especially in the face of sharp moves in stock price - volatility) then give your money to charity and get a tax break that way. At least that way you will know that some if not most of the money is going to good works and needy situations.

Remove any remaining stop loss orders and enjoy yourself through christmas and the new year. By then you should have made up and more for your big mistake. If you want to get rech quick you won't. Learn to love life as it happens.

Old Joe
