Sources are often useful.....but they have to qualified and graded into categories,  such as...

Unreliable

Unknown reliability 

Believed reliable - unknown if reliable, but considered to be

Known reliable - speaks for itself.

Off topic, but when you use sources it is helpful to know what you are dealing with....
