In America we do not pay capital gains on retirement plans.  We pay whatever our tax rate is when we withdraw the funds.  That is why I took my NOT shares out of my retirement and into my personal account and paid regular income taxes at $3.37/sh.  Future taxes will be LONG term capital gains.  These taxes are not as odorous in the US.  I still have a trading position in my retirement account that will be taxed as ordinary income when I withdraw whether the stock is up or down.
